Alaska Airlines planes to sport UAA, UAF team logos

Feel like flying with Nanook or inside a Seawolf?

Two Alaska Airlines planes will soar through the sky sporting the University of Alaska schools' logos starting March 2014.

The airline is honoring the university's two main campuses by painting one 76-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop with an Anchorage theme and another with a Fairbanks theme, said UAA spokeswoman Jessica Hamlin.

The Fairbanks aircraft will display the school's Nanook mascot and the Anchorage plane will sport the Seawolves logo, both on the tail section. In addition, each aircraft will be painted the respective school's colors, UAA said.

The planes mostly will fly from Anchorage to Fairbanks and Anchorage to Kodiak, she said.

In May, Era Alaska painted one side of a 34-seat Bombardier Dash-8 in a UAF theme and the other side with a UAA theme, Hamlin said.
