Prep hockey: South dismantles Lathrop 9-1

South 9, Lathrop 1

South scored three goals in the first period, four in the second and two in the third, Friday, on its way to a 9-1 nonconference high school hockey win over Lathrop at the McDonald Center.

South, which outshot Lathrop 38-11, got two goals apiece from Noah Ashley and Brendan Jester, with Tyler Breitenstein adding two assists. Jester scored his goals back to back — one short-handed, the other on a power play — to give the Wolverines a 6-0 lead late in the second period. South goalie
