Bradford rules at Karate championship

Vassar Bradford dominated the action at last weekend’s 34th annual Alaska State Karate Championships at the Spenard Rec Center, winning titles in the black-belt division for both Kata and free fighting. 

Adale Sanders won the women’s black-belt competition in the Kata division, and Tanaka’s Martial Arts Academy won the team competition.

Team results — 1) Tanaka’s Martial Arts Academy; 2) Tanaka’s Martial Arts Academy - Mat-Su Dojo; 3) North Star Tae Kwon Do. 

Kata Division winners

Men’s black belt — (18 or older): 1) Vassar Bradford; 2) Christopher Hodgin. Womens’ black belt — (18 or older): 1) Adale Sanders. 

Free Fighting winners

Men’s black belt — 1) Vassar Bradford; 2) Tadashi Tanaka.
