McGill is Player of the Week in the GNAC

Brian McGill, who scored a career-high 29 points last weekend for the UAA men's basketball team in a win over in-state rival UAF, this week was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Red Lion Player of the Week.

McGill, who also dished 10 assists in the GNAC opener against UAF, is the fifth player in 14 seasons to rack up at least 25 points and 10 assists in a GNAC game. The 6-foot-2 sophomore guard from Clackamas, Ore., who redshirted with UAA last season and took over as the starting point guard this season, was sharp at all shooting levels. He made 8 of 12 shots overall, hitting both of his 3-point attempts and draining 11 of 12 free-throw attempts.

The Seawolves (6-4, 1-0 GNAC) return to action Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 16-17, with a home series against Northland (Wis.) International at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. Tip-off is 7 p.m. both nights.
