Palmer man's body found near marijuana grow, troopers say

Alaska State Troopers are investigating the discovery Monday night of a Palmer man's body in a home near dozens of marijuana plants.

A family member of Theodore Konyot, 60, found him dead and called 911 at about 8 p.m., troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said. There were about 60 marijuana plants on the property, Peters said.

Troopers are investigating Konyot's death as "suspicious," but Peters would not say how or why it is considered suspicious.

The state Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy on the body, Peters said.

Konyot owned a cabin on more than five acres at 17917 E. Knik River Road, according to Matanuska-Susitna Borough property records. He opened Knik Caboose, a remote espresso stand, on Knik River Road in January 2007, according to a Daily News story at the time.
