Record low airfares to San Francisco, Denver dip even further

Just when you thought airfares from Alaska to San Francisco and Denver couldn't get any cheaper, Delta dropped them again overnight.
Anchorage-San Francisco is now $245 roundtrip (down from $264 roundtrip), Jan. 7 through June 16, then $264 roundtrip throughout the summer and fall of 2014.
The airline also reduced the Anchorage-Denver to $245 roundtrip (down from $264 roundtrip) Jan. 7-June 5.
These rates also are available starting in the Lower 48 and flying north to Anchorage.
It appears to me Delta is turning up the heat on Alaska Airlines following Alaska’s announcement of new service into Salt Lake City from San Diego, Los Angeles/LAX, San Francisco and Portland (plus more flights between Seattle and Salt Lake City).

Despite the prices, there are plenty of seats to/from both destinations all the way through June. Expect good deals starting in mid-May on Frontier Airlines, too.

USAirways is offering a great fare of $378 roundtrip between Anchorage and San Diego, starting in early January. Be careful as you're picking your connections, though. Some of the published fares include v-e-r-y long layovers in Phoenix.

The above air fare deals are in addition to Anchorage-Las Vegas ($396 roundtrip on Alaska Airlines) and Anchorage-Phoenix ($416 roundtrip on Alaska Airlines) that we discussed earlier this week.

Many destinations go on sale starting in mid-May, including Anchorage-Seattle ($242 roundtrip on JetBlue), Anchorage-Los Angeles ($296 roundtrip nonstop on Alaska Airlines), Anchorage-Long Beach ($296 roundtrip nonstop on JetBlue), Fairbanks-Denver ($347 roundtrip nonstop on Frontier Airlines) and Anchorage-Reykjavik, Iceland ($752 roundtrip nonstop on Icelandair).

Of course, all air fares (particularly the über-cheap fares to/from San Francisco and Denver) are subject to change without notice.
