Nearly two weeks after starting Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a win over UAF, the UAA men's basketball team will wrap up nonconference play with a pair of games against Northland International.
The Seawolves host Northland on Monday and Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex, with both games starting at 7 p.m. UAA doesn't play again until resuming league play at home against Western Washington on Jan. 2.
UAA comes in at 6-4 overall after thumping UAF 96-76 in the GNAC opener for both teams. The Seawolves have won all three previous meetings with Northland, winning by at least 34 points each time, with all three meetings coming in Anchorage.
Northland, from Dunbar, Wis., is 4-9 this season, with guard Micah Baines leading the Pioneers with 19 points per game.
Baines will have to contend with UAA's strong group of guards, led by Travis Thompson's 21 points per game. UAA sophomore point guard Brian McGill is coming off a dynamite performance against UAF, in which he scored a career-high 29 points and dished 10 assists. There is also senior guard Kyle Fossman, who averages 17 points per game.
