Aces update

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

The Alaska Aces will be without winger David Eddy when they open an eight-game homestand Wednesday night against the Utah Grizzlies.

Eddy has been recalled by AHL Abbotsford.

Meanwhile, when the Aces returned to practice at Sullivan Arena today, defensemen Corey Syvret (lower-body injury) and Zach Davies (wrist surgery) were on the ice. Still, coach Rob Murray doesn't expect to have either in the lineup Wednesday. Also still out is defenseman Sean Curry (lower-body injury), who has been out long-term.

Goaltender Gerald Coleman, shelved all season so far after off-season hip surgery and a setback in his rehab, at least was back on the ice for practice, so that's a step in the right direction. Don't expect him back yet.

Andy Taranto (shoulder) did not skate, but received treatment in the training room.

Counting Coleman, nine different Aces have missed a combined 96 games with injuries this season. And the club isn't quite one-third of the way through the ECHL's 72-game regular season. That puts the Aces on pace to have more than 300 games missed because of injuries. Last season, Aces players missed 334 games with injuries, the most in the five seasons The Blog has tracked that stat.

For what it's worth, here were the forward lines at practice:

Kremyr-Mazzolini-Ring-Jarvi

Trupp-Coffman-Skelly

Connolly-Sisca-Sivak
