Hard to believe, but I’m actually in agreement with Mayor Sullivan: “It makes sense to have your transit center in the middle of the city.”
Jed Smith of the Public Transit Advisory Board has questions about “whether a hub and spoke system … would work if it required riders to transfer buses.” Obviously, Mr. Smith has not ridden the buses much. Right now, one has to take a bus north to the downtown transit center and transfer to a bus going south to, say, the Dimond Center. I can’t think of a route that goes directly to anywhere in Anchorage. Midtown is, ah, in the middle of town, right on the way to everywhere. Sounds sensible to me.
