Alaska State Troopers are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who broke into a Wasilla home Monday afternoon but didn't take anything of significant value.
Troopers received a call at 12:45 p.m. that someone had broken a window of a Brennas Way home, knocked over a Christmas tree, moved items around the residence and left, said Beth Ipsen, troopers spokeswoman.
The man passed up laptop computers, medication and other items when he left the house and walked through the yards of eight homes off of Sheldon Road, she said.
Though nothing else was stolen or broken, the man did walk up to front and back doors of multiple houses throughout the neighborhood, she said.
Troopers followed his footprints to a home on East Melrose Court, where video surveillance recorded him jiggle the handle to the front door and peer into the house only to realize that it was locked, she said.
The video also shows the man taking a red gas can and another item from the yard.
Anyone with information about the break-in can call the Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131 or Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
