Alaska SBA selects Wells Fargo Bank as Lender of the Year for 2013

For the fifth year in a row, Wells Fargo Bank N.A. was selected as the Alaska U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) Lender of the Year for 2013. This award recognizes the SBA lender that achieves the overall highest number of SBA loan approvals to businesses located in Alaska during the federal fiscal year. Any type of financial institution, located anywhere in the United States, may be considered for this award.

"SBA lending is an important way we provide Alaskan business owners with the financing they need to build their business. Every one of the 50 SBA loans we made in 2013 helped an Alaskan business owner start or invest in a business," said Darren Franz, Wells Fargo Alaska regional business banking manager. "We applaud the SBA for their efforts to provide innovative financing options to help our Alaskan small businesses create jobs and drive economic growth. We're successful when our customers are successful."

With 50 loan approvals during the fiscal year ending September 30, 2013, totaling $10,226,700, Wells Fargo Bank has made a significant impact on Alaska's small businesses.

"Wells Fargo bank has demonstrated their creativity by using SBA loan programs to assist those businesses that were not able to obtain conventional financing on reasonable terms. We are pleased to present them with the Top SBA Alaska Lender of the Year award," said Regional Administrator Calvin Goings.

"Wells Fargo Bank and our other SBA lending partners play vital roles in financing new Alaskan small businesses, and facilitating the expansion of existing businesses," said Sam Dickey, Alaska SBA District Director.
