Prep basketball: West boys win, Grace teams fall

West 70, Lathrop 65

Be’Andre Wilson scored a game-high 22 points Friday in Fairbanks to lead West to a 70-65 nonconference  basketball victory over Lathrop.

De’Zhon Wyche tossed in 16 points and Brandon Hoffman 15 for the Eagles. Lathrop was led by Cole Burner’s 15 points.

 

Grace teams lose in Sitka

Grace Christian’s boys and girls teams stumbled Friday at the Holland American Holiday Shootout in Sitka.

Thunder Mountain beat the boys 70-52 behind 18-point games from Matt Seymour and Jacob Callaway. Hans Karlberg led Grace with 15 points, followed by Eric Johnson with 13 and Alex Fancher with 12.

The Grace girls suffered a 43-26 loss to Barrow, which was led by Alaina Wolgemuth’s 10 points. Ashley Logan topped the Grizzlies with five points.

The big performance of the day came from Brian Way, who poured in 30 points in host Sitka’s 68-64 thriller over the Barrow boys. Syd Riggs scored 17 points in the Sitka girls 60-31 win over Lake Forest of Auburn, Calif.
