600 workers needed to help staff polls

The Anchorage city clerk's office is seeking to hire more than 600 workers to staff polling places during the April 1 municipal election and to assist with other election-related duties.

The workers are paid hourly wages of $9.50 to $10, which includes a two- to three-hour training session in March.

Prospective workers must be registered to vote, and are barred from discussing political parties or candidates while on duty.

The clerk's office is also looking for youth election workers, who must be at least 16 years old.

More information, and applications, are available on the municipal website.
