Shooting at Anchorage house party sends two to hospital

A shooting at an Anchorage house party early Saturday morning sent two people to the hospital, according to police.

Authorities received multiple calls around 4 a.m. reporting a shooting at a residence on the 2600 block of Easthaven Circle near the intersection of Boniface Parkway and E. Northern Lights Boulevard, according to a statement from Jennifer Castro, the Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman.

"It was reported to us as a party that kept growing," Castro said. "There were a lot of people there at some points, I'm not sure what exactly that means number wise."

Police were told that when people were asked to leave the residence, a male at the party opened fire on a group of the guests, Castro said. Two people were shot and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Castro said she did not know where or how many times the individuals had been shot.

The shooting is still under investigation and no arrests had been made as of Saturday night.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the shooting, Castro said.
