A 57-year-old woman sleeping in a tent off Commercial Drive in Anchorage died from cold exposure early Saturday, Anchorage police said.

The woman was identified as Phyllis Ayaprun, police said.

She was the second woman to die in outdoors in Anchorage within days.

Elaine Marie Cleveland, 34, was found dead after apparently sleeping in a van on East Sixth Avenue in Fairview early Thursday.

On Saturday morning, a 911 call came in just before 7:30 a.m. reporting that a woman was unresponsive after sleeping in a tent overnight in the area of Commercial Drive and Rampart Drive in Mountain View, police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said in an email early Sunday.

It was reported that Ayaprun had been drinking the night before, Castro said.

Medics reported her dead at the scene, and the initial police investigation showed no signs of foul play, Castro said.

Police said cold weather contributed to Cleveland's death on Thursday.
