Letter: Moose deserve better handling

A winter hunting season? Killing pregnant cows and young calves is not acceptable or humane. Moose are displaced with nowhere safe amid firing guns, barking dogs and human activities. Now they must fear the very source sworn to protect them.

Does this winter hunting season revolve around monetary values or lack of inspiration toward a humane solution that benefits future generations as well as saves wildlife?

Canada found a humane solution. Banff National Park, Jasper National Park and Elk Island National Park safely combine roadways and nature with high roadside fences and occasional overpasses and underpasses.

Nature should have inalienable rights just as humans have. We need to conserve and protect wildlife before it's too late; they are not an endless resource.

In the words of Chief Seattle:

He does to himself."
