Soldotna captured the girls championship in Doc Larson's Roundball Classic by beating the three-time defending state champion Wasilla Warriors on their home court.
The Stars stormed to a 57-51 win over Wasilla, thanks to a 20-13 run in the fourth quarter. The two teams were both 2-0 in the tournament entering Saturday's finale at Wasilla High.
Soldotna got 24 points from Julie Litchfield and an 11-point, 15-rebound effort from tournament MVP Katelynn Kerkvliet.
Shayla Johnson led Wasilla with 18 points and six assists before fouling out. The Warriors were outscored 14-4 at the free throw line.
The Galena girls edged Juneau 40-37 behind a pair of 12-point performances from Shaina Burley and Sarah Buchanan. Kaitlin Fagerstrom led Juneau with 19 points.
In boys play, defending state champion East lost for the second time in three tournament games and Archbishop Spalding of Maryland competed an undefeated run through the tournament.
East fell 66-54 to Lathrop. Kyle Carlson and Tyreke Jennis led the charge for the Malemutes, with Carlson scoring 23 points and Jennis scoring 21.
Desmond Johnson led East with 16 points.
Archbishop Spalding, of Severn, Md., steamrolled Wasilla 79-46 in the final round-robin game of the tournament.
Tournament MVP Jourdan Grant led Archbiship Spalding with 18 points, seven assists, five steals and four rebounds with just three turnovers. Gary Jefferson pumped in a game-high 23 points.
Cash McGregor's 11 points and 10 rebounds led the Warriors.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Kodiak 36, Dimond 19
Points were at a premium Saturday in Kodiak's 36-19 win over the Dimond girls at the Joe Floyd basketball tournament in Kodiak.
Only two players scored field goals for the Lynx -- Rohyn Huss, who made four baskets to lead the team with 14 points, and Nikki Forrey, who made one. Tara Thompson sank two free throws and Celine Abello hit one, and that was it for Dimond's offense.
Kodiak, which trailed 5-4 after one quarter, was led by Hannah Wandersee's 16 points and eight rebounds and Jerica Nelson's 11.
Nikiski 55, Grace 33
Rachel Thompson tossed in a game-high 17 points Saturday to power Nikiski's girls to a 55-33 win over visiting Grace Christian.
Emily Lynch added 11 for the Bulldogs, who charged back from an 11-3 first-quarter deficit.
