Lost in the King Cove Road debate is the incontestable fact that nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it authorize any federal lands in the U.S. except for military bases, the 10 square miles of Washington, D.C., and federal courthouses. All other federal land (national parks, refuges, etc.) by definition is unconstitutional. Sally Jewell's decision to kill a nine-mile road is just another example of bureaucratic tyranny from 3,000 miles away. We are a sovereign state no different than any one of the 13 original states. It's time to expel the parasitic presence of the federal government that exists in 60 percent of our state. Then all our land decisions will be made in Juneau as the Founding Fathers intended.
