Partow mushes to two titles

Kourosh Partow picked up a pair of victories Sunday in the Orville and Doris Lake Memorial sled-dog race at Tozier Track.

Partow beat Christian Tavou by 81 seconds to win the 8-dog class, and topped Pam Schamber by 21 seconds to win the 6-dog class.

Taking the open class championship was Nathan Sterling, who won Sunday's 14-mile run with 12 dogs in harness after winning Saturday's run with 14 dogs. His two-day total time was 1 hour, 52 minutes, 4 seconds for a win of nearly six minutes over Mari Wood.

Mushers raced for a $2,000 purse in the Alaskan Sled Dog & Racing Association event.
