Anchorage's globetrotting Sean Rash won the World Bowling Tour Finals, a victory that capped two years and more than 400,000 miles of worldwide competition.
Rash, a Dimond High graduate who is the reigning PBA Player of the Year, won the televised stepladder tournament to collect a $20,000 prize.
He defeated Mike Fagan of Fort Worth, Texas, 255-231 in the finals, opening with seven straight strikes to win easily. Rash entered the event as the leader of the two-year, rolling points competition.
"Anytime you have a chance to compete, whether it's in the U.S. or around the world, it's fun," Rash said in a press release from the Professional Bowlers Association. "That's why you're an athlete. You love to compete."
The tour's finals aired on tape-delayed finals Sunday, the same day Rash held a question-and-answer session with youth bowlers at a tournament in Wasilla.
