Anchorage Chamber sets debate schedule in primary campaign races and issues

The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday announced its lineup of debates and forums leading up to the Aug. 19 state primary election. The chamber's legislative committee, chaired by Randy Cunningham and Matt Ellis, will develop questions for candidates.

The series kicks off with a Jan. 27 forum giving U.S. Senate candidates a chance to introduce themselves. Like the other events, it will take place at the Chamber's regular Make It Monday session at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center in downtown Anchorage. Doors open at 11:30 and the event starts at noon.

Here's the whole list:

Jan. 27 – U.S. Senate forum

April 28 – Governor forum

May 5 – Lt. Governor debate

June 23 – U.S. Senate debate

July 28 – Ballot Issue: Legalizing Marijuana

Aug. 4 – Ballot Issue: Repeal of Senate Bill 21 (oil tax cuts)

Aug. 11 – Lt. Governor debate

Aug. 18 – U.S. Senate debate

Additional debates will be announced before the November general election.
