NAHL report: Brown Bears, Ice Dogs both win

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

Strong Thursday night from Alaska's two entries in the NAHL -- the Kenai River Brown Bears beat visiting Wenatchee 3-1 and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs beat the visiting Minnesota Magicians 4-1.

Alec Butcher and our man Tyler Andrews of Kenai River each furnished one goal and one assist. Jacob Wolter added a goal, Nathan Coldwell delivered two assists and Zach Quinn must have been lights-out -- you don't stop 48 of 49 shots without being lights-out.

For Fairbanks, Johnny Mueller bagged two goals, Doug Rose had one goal and one helper, and Kyle Lee scored and had a fight (man, just an apple away from the Gordie Howe). Light night for Kevin Aldridge, who stopped 14 of 15 shots.

Fairbanks (25-11-0) leads the Midwest Division and owns the third-best winning percentage (.694) on the circuit.

Oh, and belated congats to Kenai River goaltender Kris Oldham of Anchorage on his first NAHL shutout, which came when The Blog was on hiatus.
