Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Matt Carle of Anchorage probably really, really enjoyed himself this afternoon.
All he managed in a 6-3 win at Philadelphia, one of his former teams, was to go an astounding +6 and rack a couple of assists. That +6 is his career best in 648 combined NHL regular-season and playoff games. He also ate up 22:22 of ice time, the most of any skater in today's game.
Twice before, Carle had put up a +5, once in the 2011-12 regular season, when he was a Flyer, and again in the 2010 playoffs, when he racked four assists in Philly's 5-4 OT win against Boston.
Oh, and with his two helpers today, Carle owns a career-best, six-game point streak -- he has furnished eight assists in that span and gone +10.
In 45 games this season, Carle owns 1-21--22 totals and a +16 rating.
By the way, Tampa Bay center Nate Thompson of Anchorage had a helper today too.
