Prep basketball for Thursday (boys and girls)

BOYS

East 45, Dimond 43

Haney Jacobo hit the game-winning bucket with six seconds left Thursday, lifting East past host Dimond 45-43 in a Cook Inlet Conference boys basketball game at Dimond.

Jacobo's shot ended a see-saw game that featured six ties and eight lead changes.

Eudy Gomez delivered 13 rebounds, seven points and six steals and Desmond Johnson added 11 points and seven rebounds for East, which trailed 28-22 at halftime.

Dimond's Austin Osborne led all scorers with 20 points. He also hauled down a team-high seven boards.


GIRLS

Dimond 60, East 18

Tara Thompson sank five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 23 points that carried Dimond to a 60-18 Cook Inlet Conference victory over visiting East on Thursday.

Rohyn Huff contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Justine Anderson added 10 points for the Lynx.

East outrebounded Dimond 45-44, getting 10 boards from Vaa Pedro, but the T-birds committed 37 turnovers.



ACS 86, Sitka 50

Dallas Dickerson's 28 points and Bryn Tennyson's 24 fueled Anchorage Christian's 86-50 triumph over the Sitka girls Thursday at ACS.

Dickerson scored nine in the first quarter to lead the Lions to an 18-10 lead.

Kalene Koelling tossed in 16 points and Megan Reid had 13 for Sitka.

 

Chugiak 49, Service 9

Brandy  Bookout poured in 15 points Thursday to lead Chugiak past Service 49-9 in a CIC girls game at Service.

Nicole Pinckney added 10 points and Anna Ingraham eight for the Mustangs. Courtney LaPonte’s five points topped Service.

 

Grace wins in Delta

Grace Christian got wins from the girls and the boys Thursday in the opening round of the Dean Cummings Sr. Memorial Tournament in Delta Junction.

Hans Karlberg poured in a game-high 20 points and was among four Grizzlies scoring in double digits in a 72-35 win over North Pole. Luke Offord added 12, Eric Johnson 11 and Alex Fancher 10.

The Grace girls took a 48-34 decision over Eielson, getting 13 points from Sasha Baird, 12 from Ashley Logan and 10 from Rachel Dunagan.

Eielson's Katie Browder led all scorers with 15 points.
