Prep hockey: Bartlett, South pick up wins

Bartlett 5, East 2

Kyle Sun scored one goal and assisted on three others Thursday, helping Bartlett claim a 5-2 Cook Inlet Conference hockey win over East.

Joel Johnson scored two goals and Cody Bell and Chance Aquino had one apiece for the Golden Bears. Malakye Felix stopped 33 shots for the win in net.

East, which trailed 2-0 after one period, got a goal in the second period from Jack Reynolds and one in the third from Justin Beverlin. Blake Henderson made 19 saves for the T-birds.

South 3, West Valley 1

Jared Cruz scored two goals in the third period, when all the scoring occurred Thursday night, to lift South's boys hockey team to a 3-1 nonconference win over West Valley at the McDonald Center in Eagle River.

Trevor Geerin also scored for the Wolverines, who received 13 saves from Davis Kitagawa.

Stoshie Skorulski scored the Wolfpack's lone goal off an assist from Cole Michaelis. Lane Wood stopped 19 shots for West Valley.
