UAA will be without winger Scott Allen, the team's co-leading goal scorer, and winger Hudson Friesen for the second straight weekend when it plays a Western Collegiate Hockey Association road series against Alabama-Huntsville beginning Friday, said Seawolves coach Matt Thomas.
Allen, a junior whose 11-7--18 totals in 20 games ties him for second on the team in points, is out with an upper-body injury. Friesen, a freshman with 2-4--6 totals in 17 games, is out with a hip injury.
Thomas said senior Chris Kamal on Friday will make his sixth straight start in goal. That matches senior Rob Gunderson's six consecutive starts in November and December.
Kamal in his five previous starts is 4-1-0 with a 1.61 goals-against average, .941 save percentage and one shutout. He was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week after stopping 62 of 64 shots in a WCHA series sweep of Minnesota State-Mankato.
UAA (11-9-2, 7-7-2 WCHA), fifth in the 10-team WCHA, in early November swept Alabama-Hunstville at Sullivan Arena, 3-1 and 6-1. The Seawolves have won four of their last five games, matching their 4-1-0 start to the season.
The last-place Chargers (1-23-0, 1-13-0 WCHA) have lost eight straight games since their lone win, a 4-3 overtime victory at Bowling Green.
Alabama-Huntsville ranks last among 59 Division I teams in goals per game (0.96), power-play efficiency (7.4 percent), penalty-killing efficiency (67.3 percent) and goal differential per game (minus 3.54), and ranks 58th in goals against per game (4.50). For what it's worth, American International College is last in goals against (4.55).
