Man arrested after Monday-night stabbing in Spenard

Anchorage police arrested a man after a stabbing Monday night in a Spenard neighborhood, a spokesperson said.

Police responded to a 911 call at an apartment in the 3500 block of Dorbrandt Street around 8:20 p.m., said Anita Shell, police spokeswoman, said.

Earlier in the evening, a group of about five people were drinking at 28-year-old Jonathan Knight's home, Shell said. Eventually Knight asked the guests to leave.

He then got into a fight with his girlfriend and choked her, Shell said. The girlfriend fled the apartment with her 8-year-old son and went to a neighbor's home.

She told the two neighbors, who had also been at the party, about the assault, Shell said. The men went over to Knight's apartment to confront him. Knight stabbed one of the men in the abdomen, Shell said.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening stab wound, Shell said.

Knight was arrested and taken to Anchorage Jail. He faces multiple assault charges.
