A collection of large-format images showing Alaska's northern coast, from the Beaufort Sea to St. Lawrence Island, will be on display in the Adventure Room, downstairs in the Hotel Captain Cook through Friday.
"Arctic Coastal Impressions -- A Photographic Journey along Alaska's Arctic Coast" shows the work of the Alaska ShoreZone Project, a partnership of more than 20 public agencies and conservation groups intended to make an "inventory of the biology and geology of Alaska's coast" through photos, video and digital data and information available to the public.
Photos for the exhibit were taken during imaging surveys in 2012-13. The exhibit coincides with the 2014 Alaska Marine Science Symposium and is open to the public between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
All data and imagery from the project, which has been under way since 2001 and includes Southeast, Prince William Sound, Kodiak Island and Bristol Bay, is available at mapping.fakr.noaa.gov/szflex.
Complimentary photo-books of the exhibit are available in the room.
