Letter: State needs more oil production

So California, with environmentalist Gov. Jerry Brown, has surpassed Alaska in oil production. If there were ever a warning sign of things to come in Alaska, this should be it. And then today the appeals court deals yet another blow to arctic oil exploration saying leases are flawed … really?

Those who want to curb oil production in Alaska, and there seem to be quite a few of you these days, had better start looking at the math. You cannot tax your way out of this and at the same time throw up roadblocks to more oil production in the face of low output and expect the future to be prosperous for this state. If you work for the state of Alaska, or even do business with the state, your pay and retirement are all betting on it … three cheers for more oil production in this state should be your mantra.
