I am disappointed to see that no school board member nor even Andy Holleman, AEA president, has broached the idea of reopening negotiations to save teacher jobs.
After all teachers are mission critical.
A one-year step freeze saves $11 million, enough for roughly 100 teacher jobs.
This along with the BSA increase of $58 would give the district $18 million more this year, enough to keep all the teachers.
That is what we teachers did in the '80s to save our fellow teacher's jobs.
