West stays unbeaten, plus other girls hoops from Wednesday

West 63, Eagle River 19

The West Eagles ran their record to 12-0 Wednesday with a 63-19  Cook Inlet Conference girls basketball victory over visiting Eagle River.

Marshala Eady provided West with 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Chanel Bookert chipped in another 17 points.

Samantha Coy led Eagle River with seven points.


South 56, Bartlett 37

Sabrina Ungaro delivered 10 points and nine steals and Sadie Hodgson netted 15 points Wednesday lead South to a 56-37 CIC win over host Bartlett.

Hodgson, a freshman, drained two 3-pointers for the Wolves, who also got nine points from Hailee Hodgson. South turned in a dominating rebounding effort that included 13 boards from Taylor Murray and nine from McKenzie Smith.

Scoring honors went to Bartlett’s Kiera Stoke with 18 points. Cheyenne Mann chipped in nine for the Golden Bears.


Dimond 69, Service 14

Tara Thompson piled up 19 points, eight rebounds and five steals Wednesday to power Dimond past Service 69-14 in a CIC game at Service.

The Lynx, who led 21-3 after the first quarter, got a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double from Dejha Canty and 16 points and seven rebounds from Rohyn Huss.

Service was led by Tatiyanna Venable’s five points.


East 67, Chugiak 45

Taria Page pumped in 28 points Wednesday, fueling East’s 67-45 CIC victory over host Chugiak.

Dajah Motuga added 15 points for the T-birds. 

For Chugiak, Nicole Pinckney, Brandy Bookout and Anna Ingraham each score 12 points.


Nikolaevsk sweeps

Nikolaevsk swept Lumen Christi of Anchorage on Wednesday, with the boys taking a 69-33 win and the girls rolling to a 60-14 victory.

Jonah Fefelov’s 16 points and Nikit Fefelov’s 15 led the Warriors in the boys game. Lumen Christi got 10 points from Jarrett Fortune and nine from James Pochop.

Nianiella Dorval scored 18 and Sophia Kalugin added 16 to power the Nikolaevsk girls. Tori Kruger topped the Archangels with five points.
