Dreamy bearded folksinger Sam Beam (aka Iron And Wine) will perform at the Egan Center March 28, announced the UAA Concert Board.
Iron And Wine first broke out in 2002 “The Creek Drank the Cradle.” Since then he has epitomized a certain kind of wistful, folk/Americana sound. On the Billboard top 200 charts, “The Shepard’s Dog” peaked at 24, 2011’s “Kiss Each Other Clean” peaked at 2, and 2013’s “Ghost on Ghost” peaked at 26. In addition to the major festival circuit, Iron & Wine been a guest performer on Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and other late night shows.
“In an effort not to play the sad strummer covering the Postal Service for the rest of his life, Beam has spent the last decade engaged in an arms race with himself,” observes Stephen Deusner of Pitchfork Magazine, observing a broadening artistic range in Beam’s sound.
