Heading into a two-game showdown at ECHL Western Conference-leading Ontario, the Alaska Aces of late are flourishing in large part because center Nick Mazzolini and his right wing, Peter Sivak, are streaking.

Both first-liners are riding seven-game point streaks. Mazzolini, the captain from Anchorage, owns 4-10--14 totals during his streak. Sivak, the Slovakian sniper they called Pistol Pete when he played for San Francisco last season, has furnished 6-8--14 totals during his streak.

Sivak, who with 19-38--57 totals leads the Aces in goals and points, and ranks second on the circuit in points, has scored a goal in six straight games. That ties for the longest goal streak in the league this season.

The Aces will again be leaning on their top line of Mazzolini centering Sivak and Brendan Connolly against the Reign.

Alaska is in the middle of a schedule that wicked at best and masochistic at worst -- 11 games in 16 days, with travel to and from California making for two travel days in that span. The Aces play at Ontario on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, then at Bakersfield on Monday afternoon before flying home Tuesday and entertaining Ontario on Wednesday in the opener of a three-game home series at Sullivan Arena.

Mazzolini earlier enjoyed a nine-game point streak (4-8--12), a six-game streak (3-5--8) and another six-game streak (3-3--6). Mazzolini owns at least one point in 23 of the Aces' last 26 games, going 11-19--30 in that span.

Sivak likewise earlier produced a nine-game point streak (6-12--18) and also a seven-game streak (4-9--13).

Sivak has furnished at least one point in 14 of his last 15 games, with 10-17--27 totals.

His plus-35 rating, in just 42 games, mind you, also leads the circuit.
