A 41-year-old man accused of tying a young woman to a tree with duct tape in Kincaid Park in 2011 was convicted last week of first-degree attempted sexual assault in Anchorage Superior Court.
On Aug. 15, 2011, Jeremy Bienek, of Anchorage, took an 18-year-old woman to a secluded area of the park, promising her a hike, said a release from the state Department of Law Thursday.
Once in a heavily wooded area, Bienek used duct tape to bind the woman's wrists to a tree and covered her mouth, the release said.
Detectives said in 2011 that Bienek also attempted to remove her pants. The victim fought back and was able to break free. She then told a family friend about the crime, the release said.
Bienek faces between 25 and 35 years in jail. He is currently being held in Goose Creek Correctional Center.
