Bomb threat causes two-hour evacuation at Wasilla Walmart

Authorities evacuated the Wasilla Walmart for two hours Thursday evening after someone called the store and made a bomb threat, Wasilla police said.

The threat was given during a phone call to the store on Seward Meridian Parkway around 5:30 p.m., said Sgt. William Rapson.

Wasilla police and Alaska State Troopers assisted in the evacuation of the building and completed a search, Rapson said.

They reopened Walmart shortly before 7:30 p.m. after finding no threat, he said.

Rapson would not release the phone call's specific contents. The investigation is ongoing, he said.
