O'Harra, Lammers capture CIC Skimeister titles

Thomas O'Harra of East and Sarissa Lammers of Chugiak captured Skimeister titles Satuday at the Cook Inlet Conference cross-country ski championships on the Hillside trails.

O'Harra garnered the honor by clocking the fastest boys time for the second day in a row.

Lammers earned it with a sizzling relay leg that vaulted her past the first-day leader.

It was all South in the team competition. The Wolverines won both of Saturday's classic relay races to cushion the leads they acquired in Friday's individual race to sweep the team titles. The Service girls and West boys claimed the second-place team trophies.

O'Harra, who recently competed in the World Junior Championships in Italy, registered Saturday's fastest relay leg to go along with his victory Friday in the individual race. His total time for the two races was 36 minutes, 10 seconds, putting him nearly 12 seconds ahead of Jake Bassett of Service in the Skimeister standings.

O'Harra finished his 5-K relay leg in 13:12.5 seconds. Bassett had the second fastest time, 13:16.9.

Although Lammers finished 7.7 seconds behind Service's Emma Tarbath in Friday's freestyle race, she more than made up the difference in the 4x3.5-K relay. Her anchor leg of 8:02.3 was 20 seconds faster than Tarbath's scramble leg of 8:22.2, giving Lammers the Skimeister crown with a total time of 31:18.

South cemented the team titles by winning both relay races.

The South team of Janey Hoefler, Irene Bembenek, Annika Flynn and Anna Darnell beat Tarbath and her teammates by 12 seconds to win the girls relay.

In the boys race, Hunter Wonders, Tanner Ramey, Matthew Hoefler and Seiji Takagi beat Bassett and his teammates by 13 seconds.
