Soldotna woman injured by drunk driver in head-on collision

A 71-year-old Soldotna woman was hospitalized after a being hit head-on by a drunk driver on the Kenai Spur Highway Sunday morning, Alaska State Troopers said in a dispatch posted online.

Troopers got a report at 7:30 a.m. of a head-on collision at Mile 3.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

"Investigation showed that Ashli Kippi, age 20 of Kenai, was southbound in the northbound lane in a 2007 Chevrolet pickup when she struck a 2006 Ford pickup driven by Linda Wirz, age 71 of Soldotna," the dispatch said.

Wirz was taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with "significant" injuries, said AST spokeswoman Megan Peters.

Kippi was arrested on DUI, felony assault, driving in violation of an instructional permit and leaving the scene of an accident charges.

She was taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility in Kenai.
