Legislators to hold Anchorage open mic Saturday

Anchorage legislators will meet Saturday at Loussac Library to hear public testimony on any state issue. The hearing will be the second open-microphone session of the bipartisan Anchorage caucus this year.

So many people signed up to testify at the first Anchorage listening session, just before legislators left for Juneau, that an extra hour was added to next Saturday's meeting, according to the co-chairwoman of the Anchorage caucus, Rep. Gabrielle LeDoux, a Republican who represents parts of East Anchorage and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

The new Democratic co-chairwoman of the caucus is Rep. Harriet Drummond, whose district includes parts of Midtown and Spenard.

Testimony on education funding dominated the first listening session Jan. 11.

Saturday's session is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers at Loussac, 3600 Denali St. Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan will open the meeting, with public testimony beginning at 9:15 a.m.
