Police ID man critically injured in Glenn Hwy. rollover

Anchorage police have identified the driver critically injured in a rollover accident on the Glenn Highway early Sunday as 23-year-old Cesar Meza Jr.

Meza on Tuesday remained in what police described as "critically stable" condition at a local hospital. His passenger, a 21-year-old woman, received minor injuries in the accident and was released from the hospital, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said.

Meza was driving a white Saturn SUV north on the Glenn when he apparently lost control at the North Birchwood exit and the SUV flipped, police said. Meza was thrown from the vehicle. The person who reported the accident at 2:20 a.m. described a man lying in the middle of the highway.

The wreck closed the northbound lanes of the highway for several hours Sunday morning.

Police are still investigating the crash and any factors contributing to it, Myren said.
