Police: Noise alert Monday for South High neighbors

Anchorage police are warning South High neighbors that they may hear what sounds like gunfire Monday night and next week while officers conduct active shooter training and fire blank rounds.

More than 12 officers will participate in the Anchorage Police Department Academy's training outside of the school, at 13400 Elmore Road, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., said Jennifer Castro, police spokeswoman.

Castro said police try to host some of their trainings outside and at night to mimic the conditions of most police responses. Police will repeat the training next Monday.

Anyone with questions or concerns should contact Castro at 786-8571.
