More details released in Credit Union 1 robbery

The FBI asked for the public's help Thursday in identifying a man who robbed a South Anchorage Credit Union 1 earlier this week, fleeing with $1,600.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday, the man handed a credit union teller a note, at 1941 Abbott Road, demanding money. FBI agents believe the man was unarmed and said no injuries were reported.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black male between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a black ball cap with a dark brim, a black leather coat, a dark hooded sweatshirt, black gloves, dark jeans and black shoes. He wore sunglasses with colored, reflective lenses, said Kevin Donovan, FBI assistant special agent in charge, in an email statement Thursday.

The man is between 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thin to medium build, Donovan said.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact the FBI at 276-4441 or the Anchorage police at 786-8500.
