Looking around today after the Alaska Aces traded the ECHL rights to goaltender Mark Guggenberger to the Gwinnett Gladiators -- Guggs is in net tonight against visiting Florida -- couldn't help but notice a curious thing in Gwinnett's stats: Namely, the club has now used 12 different goalies this season.
And, yes, that somewhat tops the circuit.
Orlando has used nine different goalies and Wheeling has employed seven. The Aces are one of several teams that have used six different goalies.
But 12? Wow. That's like a some kind of amusement park deal -- if you're taller than the crossbar, you can play goal for Gwinnett.
