UAF, which in the first half of the WCHA season endured a stretch of five straight losses and seven in eight games, beat league-leading and visiting Ferris State 4-1 tonight to earn its fifth straight win and seventh in the last eight games.

And the Nanooks just keep moving up the standings -- they are now tied for fourth place with idle UAA and have played one less game.

The Nanooks received goals from Colton Beck, Nolan Huysmans, Tyler Morley and Garrick Perry. Morley and Perry also furnished an assist, and Josh Atkinson had two assists, all of which supported a sterling 36-save effort from Sean Cahll, who backstopped a team that was outshot 37-19. Still, the Nanooks flourished despite taking the collar on eight power plays at the Carlson Center
