UAA gymnasts get boost from freshmen Randolph, Larkin

Freshmen Kallie Randolph and Nicole Larkin turned in top performances Friday for the UAA gymnastics team in a meet against Lindenwood University of Missouri.

Randolph won the floor exercise and Larkin placed second in the all-around for the Seawolves, who lost the meet 190.625 to 189.325 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

Randolph scored 9.675 points to share the floor exercise title with Lindenwood’s Rachel Zabawa.

Larkin led UAA on uneven parallel bars, placing fourth with a score of 9.6. She placed second in all-around with 37.825 points; Lindenwood’s Emily Turik won the all-around with 38.25 and UAA’s Stefany Bryan was third with 37.275.

The Seawolves were led by Julia York in vault (9.675 for second place) and Morgan Cook in balance beam (9.725 for fourth place).

Lindenwood’s Alicia Floyd claimed titles in bars and vault, and Zabawa, Turik and Valeri Ingui forged a three-way tie for the  balance beam title.

The teams meet again Sunday at 2 p.m. in UAA’s final home meet of the season.
