Summerhays' amazing shutout streak ends, he still wins

The remarkable shutout streak fashioned by Notre Dame senior goaltender Steve Summerhays of Anchorage ended today at Boston College, but he picked up another win with a 2-1 OT victory to end the Hockey East regular season.

Even when Summerhays' streak ended, it took the nation's leading scorer to do it, and it came on a power play. Johnny Gaudreau scored 1:31 into the third period for his nation-leading 30th goal and 64th point.

That stopped Summerhays' shutout streak at 231 minutes, 50 seconds, nearly the equivalent of four regulation games. In that span, he racked two shutouts, one against Providence and one against Boston University, and would have earned another but ceded the net to fellow senior Joe Rogers on Senior Night a week ago.

Summerhays checks in at 18-11-2 with a 1.87 goals-against average, .929 save percentage and a nation-leading seven shutouts.
