Aces back on top of ECHL in winning percentage

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

The idle Alaska Aces, flying home today from Utah, regained the overall ECHL lead in winning percentage, which is how the Brabham Cup as regular-season champion will be determined.

The Aces, whose 35-16-4 record gives them a .673 winning percentage, leapfrogged the Ontario Reign, who fell 3-1 at Stockton to slip to 34-16-5 and a .664 winning percentage.

South Carolina, a 3-2 loser at Elmira, is third overall in winning percentage at .652 (34-17-5).

The Aces on Friday open a three-game series against visiting Bakersfield, which pole-axed Idaho 7-1 today. Not to put too fine a point on it, but the Condors racked four even-strength goals on Idaho's Josh Robinson in the opening 9:49. In came Pat Nagle, who promptly surrendered an even-strength goal 25 seconds into his day.

Tough game for Idaho defensemen Russ Sinkewich, the former Ace, and Matthew Walters -- each finished with a -4 next to their name.
