Woman's body found in West Anchorage ID'd

Update, Friday 1:45 p.m.:

Police have identified the woman found dead inside a West Anchorage home as 23-year-old Lauren Lorraine Wiggins.

Detectives are awaiting results from an autopsy conducted early Friday, as well as results from a toxicology report, which could take between four and six weeks, police said.

Dani Myren, police spokeswoman, said she could not say if police suspect foul play.

"We don't have anything further," she said.

Anchorage police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old woman in a house near Westchester Lagoon on Thursday.

At 12:30 a.m., police received a phone call from a man saying that his house guest was injured and needed medical assistance. Police arrived at the home in the 1700 block of 12th Avenue within minutes and found the woman dead inside, Anita Shell, police spokeswoman, said in an email.

Shell said she could not comment on the extent of the injuries reported or if police suspect foul play.

"The autopsy is going to have to determine the cause of the death," she said.

Police expect autopsy results by Friday morning. No one has been charged in connection with the death, Shell said.

Police did not release the woman's name.
