Letter: Biking has an edge on driving

Before my neighbor is allowed to drive her vehicle on city streets she must pass a test, show that she can see adequately, buy insurance and be able to read traffic signs. Her car must have required safety features and she pays a hefty tax to finance road construction and maintenance.

To use a bicycle all I have to do is get on and ride. I do not have to be able to read any language, buy insurance, understand road signs, take a test, get a license or take an eye test. And I can drive on sidewalks. Life is good.
