Letter: Teachers aren’t daytime parents

A shout out to Dave Oberg (“Students learn from parents first,” March 5) for stating the facts. I’ve seen first hand too many parents forfeiting responsibility for child-rearing to others. It seems parents either don’t want to put in the time and effort or are too afraid of not being liked to do the hard work it takes to properly raise children.

I know, it takes a village... but even in a village, the parents are shouldering most of the load and not foisting it off onto any and everyone else. Teachers have enough to do, they shouldn’t have to raise the children, too.
