Former Alaska Aces goaltender Joni Ortio, now drawing his paycheck from the NHL's Calgary Flames -- he's making a pro-rated $630,00 in the final season of his entry contract and will be a restricted free agent at season end -- tonight picked up his second win in the world's best league.

Thanks to a three-goal rally late in the third period -- Calgary scored those three in 4:12 -- Ortio's 23 saves were good enough to backstop a 4-3 win. Not only that, he earned his first pro point with an assist. He's 2-1-0 with a 2.02 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.

Moving on to college, it's been a rough go for Colorado College 6-21-6), which lost 7-4 tonight to visiting St. Cloud State in an NCHC game. But junior winger Scott Wamsganz of Anchorage had a goal and an assist to give him 3-2-5 totals in 30 games. He fired four shots and went +1.
